Any recommendations for a free tool like visio?
I need it to draw up a few diagrams. I don’t need the most robust features.

Freemind? I’ve not really used it personally but it referenced.
I hack a lot of diagrams out of pencil quickly. Not so valuable as a template drag and drop, works well enough for me. I like the ease of managing in a version control tool like GIT as the storage is fairly clean xml.
What did you end up using?

For a quick draw I use libreoffice draw, there are some downloadable stencils that can solve your needs.
